Chamber choir goes to Sierra Leone!

Here are a few photos taken on our recent trip to Sierra Leone, where we presented donated instruments and music to a musical academy and the police and army bands, performed two concerts and took part in the harvest festival service at the cathedral. The purpose of the trip was to make a gesture of friendship and solidarity to the people of one of the poorest countries of the world, who are re-building their lives after the ravages of a terrible civil war. This we did through the medium we know best - sharing traditional English madrigals, part-songs and other memorable works.

Several Richmond-based businesses and individuals donated second-hand musical intruments (and took on the costs of shipping them). These were warmly welcomed by the academy and the services bands, who have all been making do with antiquated equipment and, frequently, hand-written music.
